Admission Policies

Admission decisions are made on an individual basis. Before admission is granted, each application is reviewed by the appropriate department to determine if the applicant’s academic history and preparation is satisfactory.
Application Requirements A bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college or university is required. Official transcripts of all previous undergraduate and graduate studies. Transcripts in any language other than English must be accompanied by an official translation and evaluation. Transcripts should be sent from the institution directly to the HGU Admission Office. A minimum overall grade point average of 2.3 is also required.
Admissions Procedure
- Complete an Application Form online or a hard copy. You can only submit one application per academic year. Application from is also available in the HGU Admissions Office.
- An official sealed educational transcript from college previously attended or currently attending must be submitted. Transcripts in any language other than English must be accompanied by an official translation and evaluation. Transcripts should be sent from the institution directly to the HGU Admission Office.
- Take the entrance assessment tests. The scores will not affect the admission evaluation for the applicants, they are for reference purposes only.
- Submit the one-time, non-refundable $50 application fee by the appropriate application deadline.
Once the application, transcripts and fee have been received, the HGU admissions office will provide and individualized evaluation service and the approved credit transfer policy to transfer credit for each applicant. A copy of the evaluation report will be provided to the accepted applicant.
Entrance Assessment Tests The entrance assessment tests are required for reference purpose. They will not affect the admission evaluation for the applicants. Applicants for the MBA program are required to take either the GMAT or the on-campus equivalent assessment test. Applicants for the MSCS and MSEE program are required to take either GRE or the on-campus equivalent assessment test. Those who are required to enroll in ESL classes are allowed to take the test after passing the advanced ESL classes.
Background preparation The background preparation for each graduate program is described at the beginning of each program. In the admission evaluation report received by each applicant, background deficiencies are identified, if any. The student is required to clear the deficiencies at HGU before taking graduate level courses. The graduate student may clear each background deficiency by taking and passing the subject course (an undergraduate course). With advance approval by the academic Council, the student may be allowed to clear a deficiency by taking a challenge exam on the subject. Graduate students in the business programs have the option to take preparatory module studies to clear their deficiencies.
